CAIRO – Belgian Ambassador to Egypt Francois Cornet d’Elzius asserted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Brussels last February reflected the strength of ties binding Egypt and Belgium on all fronts.

D’Elzius told MENA on Saturday that Egypt and Belgium have distinguished, strong and long-standing relations covering several fields.

He commended the strong economic partnership between the two countries, pointing to the fact that Egypt is the second trade partner to Belgium in the Middle East region.

Egypt is also an important partner to Belgium in Africa, the diplomat noted, underlining its strategic geographical location.

He commended several investments made by Belgian companies in Egypt.

D’Elzius highlighted the importance of promoting cooperation with Egypt in cultural domains, citing the many Belgian archaeological missions in Egypt.

Speaking about tourism, the ambassador said Belgian tourists are paying a greater attention to visiting Egypt encouraged by its lovely weather and great history and civilization.
