CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa El-Din Farouk affirmed that there are directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to increase attention to farmers, facilitate their access to services and production supplies and maintain constant and continuous communication with them to identify and immediately address the problems they face.
This statement was made during a meeting held by the minister on Thursday with a number of farmers who came to congratulate him on his appointment as the new minister of agriculture and land reclamation.
Farouk explained that there is a special focus on intensifying agricultural extension services as part of providing technical support to farmers in the fields, spreading modern and good agricultural practices, and providing all necessary recommendations to increase productivity, enhance farmers’ income, and improve their standard of living.
He pointed out that the Egyptian farmer is the backbone of production, playing the most important and essential role in food production and achieving food security. He noted that the state is keen to support all producers and facilitate their work.
He also emphasized that the coming period will witness significant presence and interaction with farmers in the fields and production sites by officials and leaders to immediately resolve any issues related to agriculture and farmers.
