Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has mandated Moustafa Madbouli to form a new government and directed the present government to continue delivering its tasks until a new one is formed.
President Sisi on Monday received Madbouli who tendered the government’s resignation to the President, a Presidency statement said.
Madbouli was tasked with forming a new government of distinguished competencies, experiences, and capabilities, the Presidency statement said.
“Today, I assigned Dr. Moustafa Mabdouly to form a new government comprising competencies and expertise deemed necessary for the management of the next phase in order to achieve the aspired development in government performance and confront the challenges,” President Sisi wrote on the micro-blogging platform X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.
The new government would seek to achieve towards achieving several key goals, foremost among them preserving the determinants of Egyptian national security amid regional and international challenges, the Presidency statement said.
Additionally, building the Egyptian human being, particularly in the fields of health and education, and sustaining efforts to develop political participation, remain top priorities, the statement said.
The new government, the Presidency statement said, would also seek to build on the achievements made in the files of security, stability and combating terrorism.
President Sisi also called for the new government to advance the files of culture, national awareness and moderate religious discourse in a way that deepens the concepts of citizenship and societal peace, the statement said.
The Presidential directives for the formation of the new government included continuing economic reform with a focus on attracting and increasing local and foreign investments, encouraging private sector growth, the statement said.
President Sisi’s directives also called for action in these directions to be pursued within the framework of a comprehensive development of the state’s economic performance across all sectors.
The president instructed the current government to continue conducting business and performing its duties until the new government is formed.
