The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi supports the Egyptian sports sector and considers it ”national security”, affirmed Youth and Sports Ministry spokesman Mohamed Fawzy.
In exclusive statements to Sky News Arabia channel on Wednesday, Fawzy said that President Sisi is keen on supporting the sports sector and considered it “national security”.
President Sisi’s support to this sector has greatly contributed to upgrading sports establishments and hosting international sporting events in the past period, added the spokesman.
Egypt stands fully ready to host various international sporting events in the upcoming years, including the Olympic Games, he went on to say.
The spokesman, meanwhile, said that Egypt is waiting for the visit of President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach to discuss several issues.
He further refuted reports about Egypt’s working on a comprehensive file to host the 2036 Olympics.
However, Egypt is ready to host any international event, after as many as 150 international events were organised over the past period, he made it clear.
Talking about Bach’s visit to Egypt, the spokesman said that he will pay a several days’ visit to Egypt to discuss several issues related to the sports sector and the great development it is experiencing in the recent period.
