Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that his current visit to India has come at a time when bilateral relations are witnessing a significant breakthrough in all aspects of cooperation.
President Sisi, meanwhile, said that his visit also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and India.
President Sisi also confirmed the special relations binding Egypt and India, that aim to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries.
This came during a dinner banquet hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu in honor of President Sisi.
President Sisi further said that his visit represented an important opportunity for continuing consultations and exchanging visions on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries at all levels and to coordinate positions on regional and global issues that have a direct impact on national security.
President Sisi expressed appreciation for the warm Indian reception, praising the solid historical Egyptian-Indian friendship.
Egypt and India share together a civilizational heritage that is rooted in history, he went on to say.
“The close ties binding Egypt and India put on our shoulders a joint responsibility to spread the principles and values of justice, peace, equality, tolerance, non-violence, and mutual respect among peoples,” said President Sisi.
“Perhaps the convergence of views that prevailed in our talks reflects our firm conviction of the need to continue solidarity to achieve our common goals in various fields. This is based on the historical ties, the enormous potential Egypt and India have, as well as the determination of the two countries to improve their bilateral relations to reach the stage of strategic cooperation and mutual coordination on various issues and matters of mutual interest,” President Sisi went on to say.
“Our meeting is becoming increasingly important due to the international polarization that has severe negative consequences on people around the globe. This makes it imperative for our developing countries to come together to face common challenges and emerging international crises, including energy and food crises,” President Sisi said.
President Sisi, meanwhile, said that an agreement was reached during the talks to intensify joint coordination and cooperation on political and security issues and to maximize mutual interests in the infrastructure sectors, economic fields, and various industries.
President Sisi went on to say that an agreement was also reached to expand the frameworks of communication between the Egyptian and Indian peoples by promoting cooperation in the tourism sector, increasing opportunities for cultural and scientific exchange, encouraging the transfer of educational expertise, and developing technical skills among young people.
In addition, airlines should be encouraged in the two countries to operate direct flights between various Egyptian and Indian cities in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of citizens between both countries, he further said.
Concluding his speech, President Sisi extended his sincere congratulations to the Indian government and people on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations.
President Sisi also invited the Indian president to visit Egypt in the near future in order to enhance coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
