President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday reviewed the work outcomes of the higher specialized committee on the safety factors of el-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, in line with the international standards, as part of the project’s construction and executive plan that is being conducted with the Russian side.
The meeting featured Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning, Maj. Gen. Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Director of the Military Technical College, Maj. Gen. Eng. Ismail Mohamed Kamal, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
Maj Gen Kamel briefed the president on el-Dabaa safety factors and the studies on the population density in the area.
El-Dabaa is an advanced third generation nuclear plant, with the highest self-safety and protection degrees, Kamal said.
President Sisi gave directives to the authorities concerned that the committee ensures the application of maximum precautionary measures and international safety standards for el-Dabaa, considering the population density and urban planning of the areas around the site, as well as freezing any construction work there until the end of 2021, Ambassador Radi said.
The president also stressed the importance of coordination among the involved bodies in the project to guarantee the careful study of the future growth of population in the safety zone.
