President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Monday Minister of Waqfs (Religious Endowments) Osama el-Azhari to discuss key priorities for the ministry’s work, particularly in religious outreach and combating extremist ideologies.
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy, the meeting focused on the progress of the ministry’s efforts in religious guidance. President Sisi stressed the importance of continuing to shield society from extremist thought and to promote genuine religious values.
The president also directed that efforts should continue to improve the conditions of imams, preachers, and religious scholars, and to expand their training and development using the latest methods. He also called for sustained work to counter all forms of religious extremism and to challenge harmful behaviours and attitudes.
The meeting also reviewed the latest updates on the national awareness initiative “Correct Your Concepts”, which the president described as a key pillar in shaping enlightened religious and social awareness across the country.
Minister el-Azhari noted that the Ministry has recently launched a new educational programme for children for the 2025–2026 year, involving 20,880 mosques across Egypt. This programme falls under the broader “Correct Your Concepts” initiative and is part of the ministry’s mission to instill sound religious, moral, and national values in young people, helping to build balanced Egyptian personalities grounded in faith.
President Sisi emphasised the importance of educating children with authentic religious knowledge and raising them on principles of moderation and pride in national identity.
In addition, the meeting covered plans to maximise the use of assets owned by the Egyptian Endowments Authority. The president was briefed on ongoing efforts to identify promising investment opportunities to ensure these assets are managed more efficiently and contribute more effectively to national development goals.
