Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated on Sunday Egypt’s full support of the unity and the integrity of Iraq’s territories.
The President also voiced support of Iraq’s efforts to face the challenges facing the region, especially terrorism.
President Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on with Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service; Rebar Ahmed, KRG Interior Minister; and Mohsen Kamal, head of the Kurdistan Region’s Intelligence Service.

For his part, Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s appreciation for Egypt’s role and for President Sisi’s support for Iraq and efforts to restore regional stability, saying the KRG looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with Egyptian institutions.
The spokesman said the talks also addressed economic cooperation between Egypt and Iraq, including the Kurdistan region.
President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s keenness to deepen all forms of economic cooperation, highlighting the strong capabilities of Egyptian companies, especially in energy and infrastructure, and their experience at home and abroad.
He invited the Kurdistan Regional Government to benefit from these companies’ ability to deliver projects to high standards at competitive costs.
Barzani welcomed the role of Egyptian companies in Iraq, saying he looks forward during his visit to working with relevant Egyptian authorities to explore ways to enhance cooperation and draw on Egyptian expertise in several priority sectors for the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional issues of mutual concern, with Sisi outlining Egypt’s vision for restoring security and stability in the region and listening to Barzani’s assessment in this regard, the spokesman added.
