Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi performed Eid al-Fitr prayer on Wednesday morning at the Grand Mosque of Egypt in the New Administrative Capital.

Sisi was accompanied during the prayer by the sons of some of the nation’s martyrs, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayeb and Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam in addition to a number of ministers and other senior officials.

The prayer began by the recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran which was followed by Takbirs.

At the end of the prayer, the mosque’s imam delivered the Eid sermon, stressing the importance of staying on the path of righteousness and piety and saying that he prays to Allah to make the Eid an occasion filled with joy and contentment for the entire universe and all humanity and for Egypt and its people.

He concluded by wishing Egyptians and their leader to be blessed by God’s support and protection.
