DUBAI – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had a meeting on Friday with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference (COP28), currently in session at Expo City Dubai.
The presidential spokesman said that the two sides, during their meeting, exchanged views on means of promoting bilateral ties in the various domains.
They also discussed a host of regional and international issues related to climate change and the escalation in the Gaza Strip.
The two leaders exchanged viewpoints on the latest Gaza developments. President Sisi briefed Macron on Egypt’s vision on the necessity of declaring a ceasefire and expanding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as Egypt’s efforts to receive injured Palestinians and evacuate foreign nationals.
The two sides agreed on the importance of reaching urgent solutions to the current crisis and taking action to ensure the Palestinians’ access to humanitarian aid.
They also underlined the importance of starting a comprehensive political process, with the aim of reaching a just settlement to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with the relevant international references.
