SAINT CATHERINE – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that his visit to the site of the Great Transfiguration Project comes within the framework of following up on the final stages of the development project, which is being carried out upon directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The buildings and facilities being constructed as part of the project are fully in line with international environmental standards to preserve the architectural heritage and enhance the spiritual value of the area, added Madbouli during his tour of Saint Catherine city in South Sinai governorate.
During his tour, Madbouli referred to directives issued by President Sisi to give top priority to this project, as this unique spot will become a global destination for visitors from all over the world.
Madbouli started his tour by inspecting Saint Catherine International Airport development project, as the assistant head of the engineers Department at the Armed Forces Engineering Authority briefed the premier on the status of the construction activities at the passenger and service buildings.
The premier also said that the new terminal will be able to accommodate 600 passengers per hour. It will also feature international and domestic departure and arrival lounges, as well as a VIP lounge.
The new runway will be 3,000 metres long and include an expanded apron with space for eight aircraft, he added.
The prime minister, meanwhile, lauded the progress made so far in the project, saying that it is necessary to complete the project, as the airport will be an international hub, offering a seamless and enjoyable experience for global travelers.
