CAIRO – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will head on Friday to India to participate in the 2023 G20 New Delhi summit.
In statements, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said President Sisi’s participation in the summit comes at an invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose country assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2022.
During his participation in the Summit, President Sisi is scheduled to focus on a host of issues of mutual interest to developing countries in general and African countries in particular.
President Sisi will stress the importance of promoting international efforts to facilitate the integration of developing countries in global economy that in turn will provide the opportunities and mutual advantages that contribute to attracting investments and achieving economic growth and development for all parties.
According to MENA, President Sisi will stress the need to provide support to developing countries to help them in achieving sustainable development goals, taking into account the negative impacts on the economy, food, and energy caused by many successive global crises.
President Sisi will also underline the necessity of developed countries’ commitment to honor their pledges within the framework of international agreements and mechanisms to fight climate change and enable developing countries to depend on the use of new and renewable energy resources.
During his visit to India, President Sisi is set to hold bilateral meetings with international leaders and officials on various issues of mutual interest on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
