CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic in various fields of mutual interest.

He commended Kyrgyzstan’s decision to open an embassy in Cairo as a strategic step that would further advance relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment domains.

The president’s remarks came during his meeting on Wednesday with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy said the official reception ceremony included reviewing the guard of honor, playing the national anthems of both countries, and taking an official photo.

The two leaders then held a one-on-one meeting, followed by expanded talks attended by the two delegations, which concluded with the signing of two memorandums of understanding between the two countries.

President Sisi welcomed President Japarov on his first official visit to Egypt, the first ever by a Kyrgyz president since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He underscored the importance of this historic visit in opening new horizons for cooperation and reiterated Egypt’s desire to deepen bilateral ties in all areas of common interest.

Sisi also praised Kyrgyzstan’s decision to establish an embassy in Cairo, describing it as a strategic move that would give fresh impetus to relations, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment spheres.

The president stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to convene the Joint Governmental Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Co-operation.

He noted that the committee serves as an institutional framework to follow up on the outcomes of the visit and build upon them, in a way that reflects the distinguished political relations between the two countries.

For his part, President Japarov expressed his great pleasure at making his first visit to Cairo and extended his congratulations to President Sisi on the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

He affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen relations with Egypt in various fields.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan’s decision to open an embassy in Cairo reflects Bishkek’s appreciation of Egypt’s pivotal role in the Middle East and Africa.

Shennawy added that the discussions addressed a range of topics of mutual interest, including the participation of Egyptian companies in Kyrgyzstan’s development projects, given their extensive expertise in this domain.

The talks also focused on promoting trade and investment, exploring prospects for joint manufacturing, and enhancing cooperation between religious institutions in both countries to confront extremist ideologies.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments of common concern.

President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

He noted that Egypt plans to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza later this month.

President Japarov expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s active and constructive role in achieving the ceasefire agreement.

He noted that the agreement culminated in the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and stressed the importance of fully implementing its provisions.

He also presented Kyrgyzstan’s perspective on developments in Central Asia, outlining the challenges and opportunities the region faces amid current global transformations.
