President Sisi: Egypt looks forward to promote ties with Tunisia

JEDDAH – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had a meeting on Friday with his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied, during which he asserted Egypt’s keenness on promoting ties between the two countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the two leaders’ participation in the 32nd Arab Summit.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said that President Sisi, during the meeting, expressed his appreciation of the deeply-rooted ties binding the two countries at the official and popular levels.

President Sisi also wished all success for Tunisia, under the leadership of President Kais Saied, during this critical juncture in the history of the Tunisian people.

He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to develop relations between the two countries into a sustainable framework of economic integration and strategic cooperation,

He asserted Egypt’s support for all ongoing efforts to continue the development and reform process in Tunisia.

For his part, the Tunisian president asserted his country’s keenness on enhancing ties with Egypt in all domains as the cornerstone for maintaining regional security and stability and restoring balance to the region, taking into account Egypt’s pivotal role at the regional and international levels.

Saied also expressed his country’s keenness on benefiting from the Egyptian experiment in implementing development projects and fighting terrorism and extremism.

The meeting also took up a host of regional files of mutual interest, topped by the situation in Sudan and Libya.

The two leaders agreed on intensifying coordination and consultation in this regard with the aim of advancing efforts to resolve existing crises and restore security and stability in the region for the benefit of the Arab peoples.
