President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated Egypt’s strong and unwavering commitment to resolving the Palestinian cause and called for comprehensive regional and international efforts to secure peace and stability in the Middle East.
In his address to the Extraordinary Arab Summit, held in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday, President Sisi welcomed the participants, and emphasised the Egypt’s longstanding dedication to justice and peace in the Arab world.
He also addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza, condemning the continued violence and its devastating impact on Palestinian people, particularly women and children, the Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed al-Shennawy, said.
He added that President Sisi characterised the current situation as a grave threat to regional security and stability, which has undermined the foundations of Arab national security.
President Sisi said the aggression on Gaza is “a stain in the history of humanity,” adding that the Israeli war aimed to empty the strip of its population.
The president stressed the need for immediate action to end the aggression against Gaza and provide lasting peace and hope for the Palestinian people.
“The resolve and resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of unprecedented suffering stand as a testament to their unyielding commitment to their land and rights. Egypt remains committed to supporting their right to live in dignity and to lifting the injustice they continue to face,” President Sisi said.
He underscored Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting peace in the region, recalling the peace treaty signed with Israel in 1979, which remains a cornerstone of Egypt’s foreign policy.
“Peace must be based on the principles of justice, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” the president said, warning against any efforts to forcibly displace populations or alter established borders.
Egypt has taken proactive steps to mediate a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian assistance, President Sisi said, unveiling that Egypt has collaborated with Palestine to form an administrative committee tasked with overseeing relief efforts in Gaza, as well as providing security training to Palestinian personnel to ensure stability in the region.
Furthermore, Egypt has developed a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza that prioritises rebuilding infrastructure, restoring essential services, and supporting long-term recovery without displacing Palestinian civilians.
In this respect, President Sisi called on summit participants to endorse the proposed reconstruction plan and to mobilise regional and international support for its implementation.
“This plan must be accompanied by a parallel peace initiative, which should address the political and security dimensions of the conflict,” Sisi said, urging countries to participate in the reconstruction conference that Egypt will host next month.
In his address, President Sisi also condemned the ongoing attacks in the occupied West Bank, including military operations, settlement expansion, and land confiscation, while reaffirming Egypt’s firm rejection of violations against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He reiterated that there can be no lasting peace in the region without a comprehensive and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved through force or imposition,” President Sisi said.
He also asserted that a just and lasting peace is only possible through dialogue, mutual respect, and a political solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the security of Israel.
The president concluded his remarks by calling for collective action from all Arab nations and the international community to address the root causes of instability in the region and work toward a sustainable peace that benefits all peoples.
