Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had a telephone conversation on Sunday with Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, extending his congratulations to the president on his re-election in the March 2026 presidential elections.
He noted that the result reflects the confidence of the Congolese people in the continuation of efforts towards development and prosperity under his leadership.
During the call, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s keenness to further strengthen bilateral relations with the Republic of Congo and to advance joint co-operation across various fields, in a manner that serves the interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continued coordination with Congo within regional and international frameworks, the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said in a statement.
He added that President Sassou Nguesso, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the congratulatory message and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further enhancing relations with Egypt across all domains.
He also praised the strong fraternal ties binding the two countries and their peoples.
The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, emphasising the importance of resolving conflicts in Africa through peaceful means.
They also underscored the need to preserve the capabilities of affected nations, respect their sovereignty, and create conditions conducive to stability, development, and prosperity across the continent.
