President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed that opportunities be explored to further develop the capabilities of the top graduates from the Ministry of Religious Endowments’ third cohort of imams.
This will be achieved through postgraduate studies and specialised educational missions abroad.
According to presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El Sisi said this initiative is part of ongoing efforts “to prepare a new generation of highly qualified religious scholars”.
The president made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of the third cohort of imams held at the Egyptian Military Academy’s Elite Hall within the Strategic Command headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Upon his arrival, President Sisi was received by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, and Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Osama Al-Azhari, alongside several ministers and senior officials.
The event began with President El Sisi unveiling a commemorative plaque to officially inaugurate the Elite Hall.
Major General Walid Aref, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, then presented an overview of the hall’s facilities and capabilities.
The ceremony featured a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by an address from the Director of the Egyptian Military Academy, Major General Mohamed Salah El-Turky.
The ceremony also included the screening of documentary films highlighting the participants’ research projects and the successful completion of the course, alongside a French-language summary of their research.
Minister Al-Azhari emphasised the ministry’s commitment to preparing a generation of preachers who are academically, physically, and nationally qualified, praising the President’s continued support for cultivating a well-rounded national character.
