President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for maintaining efforts to complete housing projects in new cities according to the set timelines and at the highest quality standards. He also gave directives to accord due attention to utilities, services, internal roads and landscaping.

The president’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing Assem al-Gazzar, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

During the meeting, the president also stressed the importance of adherence to sustainability standards for the infrastructure in order to accommodate the expected future needs with the start of operation of the new cities.

The president, meanwhile, directed that consideration be given to the expansion in the width of the entrances to the New Administrative Capital and the axes leading to it in order to accommodate the expected traffic to and from it, while linking it to the main axes and roads leading to Greater Cairo and its neighbourhoods.

The president also followed up on the progress of the mega project to upgrade villages and said that all data related to the Egyptian Rural Development Project should be scrutinised. He noted that the project should include a task force comprising academics and planning experts and statisticians to study all the details on the ground and update the data on the residents and their conditions.

The president was also briefed on a major plan to upgrade the holy area in Sinai in the vicinity of the Moses and Saint Catherine Mountains, which includes 14 major projects.

The project aims to promote the nature as well as the climatic and geological conditions of the site.
