Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi Thursday called for the continuation of efforts to develop the electricity sector, maintain and build on the successes achieved in this regard over the past years, in a way that supports the comprehensive development plan in all sectors, especially industry and agriculture.
The President’s remarks came as he met on Thursday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, the President directed the government to continuing efforts to improve the quality of electrical service provided to citizens. He also called for strengthening electrical interconnection projects with neighbouring countries in order to achieve mutual economic benefit.
The meeting also reviewed the executive situation of a number of projects of the Ministry of Electricity nationwide as well as the quality of the national electricity grid in general.
The meeting also witnessed the presentation onsecuring the electrical supply for the national land reclamation projects nationwide, especially in Toshka, the New Delta, Sinai and Upper Egypt.
The President was also briefed on the developments of electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries, especially Saudi Arabia, Greece, Cyprus and Italy.
