Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday followed up the ongoing work for constructing and developing a host of seaports.
The meeting was attended by Commander of the Egyptian Navy Vice Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa, President’s Advisor on Urban Planning Maj Gen Amir Sayed Ahmed, Chairman of the Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority Maj Gen Amed el-Azazi, together with a host of officials and specialists, Presidency Spokesman Counselor Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi was briefed on the ongoing construction and development work in the ports of Arish, al-Adabia, Abu Qir and Jarjoub, Fahmy added.
Work is being carried out in these ports in line with state of the art engineering, construction and environmental technologies, including breakwaters, container handling terminals, berths, multi-purpose stations, and the logistics and tourist areas,
These efforts are part of the national project to develop seaports nationwide, Spokesman Fahmy said.
President Sisi gave directives to intensify efforts to maximize benefits from Egypt’s unique geographical location, and preferential advantages as a meeting point, and passage, on the global maritime transport lines, Fahmy said.
President Sisi ordered that these advantages have to be turned, through tireless efforts and hard work by the state and the private sector, into an added economic value, as part of the ongoing drive to build national capacities in all fields.
