President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed that the development Egypt is currently witnessing and the quest to possess capacity in its comprehensive concept is primarily aimed at realising development, construction and peace as well as maintaining security and stability for the entire region.
The president’s remarks came as he received Tuesday a delegation of Greek and Cypriot youth of Egyptian origins as part of the presidential initiative “Reviving the Roots”.
The president welcomed the youth delegation from Greece and Cyprus, pointing out that the launch of the initiative to revive the Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot roots was based on the common history between the three countries spanning thousands of years.
He added that the initiative represents a message of affection and good spirit from Egypt’s side towards everyone who lived on its land and left a human trace or heritage.
President Sisi also affirmed the authenticity of the relations and commonalities between the three peoples as well as the integration of the Cypriot and Greek communities with the Egyptian people over several successive generations.
The president also affirmed Egypt’s interest in strengthening bridges of popular and societal communication between the three countries, stressing in this context that the tripartite co-operation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece is a model to be followed in the Eastern Mediterranean region in all fields.
He added that the current visit of the youth delegation, as part of the “Reviving the Roots” initiative, is an important step to deepen communication between the present generations of the three countries and to strengthen the tripartite co-operation between them against the backdrop of the importance of youth in this context as a maker of the future and as a generation that is proud of its origins.
For their part, members of the Greek and Cypriot youth delegation expressed their honour to meet the president and stressing that the “Reviving the Roots” initiative contributes to linking the new generations of Greece and Cyprus, whose ancestors lived in Egypt, with the Egyptian civilisation. They added that Egypt embodies the values of tolerance, coexistence and human communication.
The youth delegation also praised the great development they saw in Egypt through the mega national projects, which they visited, in addition to other archaeological and tourist attractions.
