President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman have discussed bilateral ties in the light of the distinguished co-operation between the two countries, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During a phone call that President Sisi received on Sunday from Sultan bin Tariq, the two leaders addressed a host of regional issues of mutual concern, and exchanged greetings on the advent of the Great Bairam (Eid Al-Adha).
President Sisi wished the Sultan success in completing the march of comprehensive development, whose foundations were laid down by late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, for achieving the Oman Vision 2040, Ambassador Radi said.
The president commended the historical and friendly ties binding Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman that were established over decades of solidarity, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder at times of crises and challenges.
He reiterated Egypt’s keenness on preserving these distinguished relations and further promoting them in such a continuous manner that realises the interests of the two brotherly peoples as well as the interest of the entire Arab nation.
For his part, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq lauded the distinguished bilateral ties and the bonds of cordiality and fraternity between the two peoples. He also expressed Oman’s eagerness to boost the existing frameworks for co-operation and opening up fresh prospects to promote it, in addition to maintaining consultation and coordination on all regional and international issues of mutual interest, Ambassador Radi said.
The sultan of Oman highlighted in this regard Egypt’s standing as a fundamental basis for the maintenance security and stability in the region. He also underscored Oman’s interest in benefiting from Egypt’s pioneering and inspiring experience in development that has been realised through the insightful vision and wise leadership of President Sisi, Spokesman Radi said.
During the phone call, the two leaders affirmed their keenness on promoting relations in all fields over the coming period, with focus on economy, investment and trade exchanges so as to elevate them to the same distinguished level of political relations.
President Sisi expressed appreciation for the generous treatment accorded to members of the Egyptian community in the Sultanate at both official and the popular levels.
Sultan bin Tariq highlighted the importance of sustaining the role of the Egyptian community in supporting Oman’s march for advancement, the spokesman said.
