Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for the intensification of action to implement the Upper Egypt Road Network, especially including the Freeway Project, which will facilitate the movement of people and serve new developmental and urban communities in the area.
The president’s directive to this effect came during a meeting he held on Monday with Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ihab El-Far and Assistant to the Head of the Engineering Authority for Road Designs Abdel Aziz el-Feqi, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
President Sisi also called for sustaining efforts to build and raise the efficiency of roads in western Cairo as well as the vital traffic axes linking western Cairo to its east. The projected works, he noted, aim to absorb the movement of citizens who use such roads and axes, eliminate traffic jams and solve the problem of congestion as part of the state’s national plan to modernise the road network and traffic hubs.
During the meeting, the president was also briefed on the progress of works to implement some construction projects in the New Administrative Capital, especially the various residential neighbourhoods as well as the interior designs of the Egypt Mosque at the Egyptian Islamic Cultural Centre and its halls.
He was also briefed on the developments of the executive position of a number of other construction projects nationwide such as the project to develop El Alamein International Airport and its lounges and facilities, which will utilise the world’s latest technologies applied in international airports.
