Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has given directives to the government to accelerate the pace of construction works for major housing projects aimed at increasing the affordability of decent residential units for citizens.
The presidential directives to this effect came in a meeting the president called on Monday with Prime Minister Dr Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Eng Sherif el-Sherbiny.
Reviewing the progress of works to implement the chain of ventures undertaken by the Housing Ministry was the focus of the meeting, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed al-Shennawy said.
The review inter alia contained the Beitak Fi Misr and Baitul Watan, Arabic for “Your Home in Egypt” and “Home of the Nation” initiatives respectively—two projects aimed at serving Egyptian nationals living or working abroad.
The projects are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen links between Egyptians living abroad and the homeland, spokesman Shennawy said.
Following the briefing and review, President Sisi gave directives for speeding up the pace of construction works for all such projects.
In this connection, the President stressed the importance of expanding efforts to provide affordable housing for all citizens, with a focus on offering approximately 400,000 housing units for limited and middle-income families, as well as units for higher-income and luxury segments.
The president was also updated on the implementation pace of the Housing Ministry’s initiatives, which aim to offer to expatriates high-quality housing units and land in prime locations within governorates and new cities.
Additionally, the president lauded the Ministry of Housing’s new projects, including the “Housing for All Egyptians,” “Our Homes,” and “Zilal”, which are aimed at meeting the diverse housing needs of citizen, spokesman Shennawy said.
Also considered during the meeting was the progress of key development projects in the Northwest Coast region, with President Sisi emphasising the importance of maintaining ongoing communication with implementing companies to ensure timely and high-quality project finalisation.
President Sisi further underscored that such measures and constant follow-up are conducive to maximizing the utilisation of the state’s assets in a way that supports the growth of the tourism sector and advancing Egypt’s broader developmental vision.
Elaborating, the president called for intensifying efforts to maximize the benefits of the advanced infrastructure developed in recent years, stressing the necessity of continuous follow-up on ongoing projects and the timely offering of residential units scheduled for construction in the upcoming stage, spokesman Shennawy said.
