The world celebrates today an important human value that we need now perhaps more than ever before: it is the value of human fraternity. This important occasion reminds us all of the importance of dialogue to understand and accept others. It also reminds us of the importance of strengthening cooperation for rejecting intolerance and addressing hate speech, and spreading the values of tolerance, justice and equality in order to achieve peace and stability.
Egypt is the cradle of human civilization, and it is the land on which Allah spoke to Moses, to which the Messiah (Jesus Christ) and his mother, the Virgin Mary, traveled, and where Islam entered since its dawn.
We always strive to consolidate the foundations of fraternity among the members of society, a united national fabric, who enjoy all their rights without discrimination; we face the calls for hatred and incitement to violence.
In this regard, religious institutions and leadership in Egypt are exerting their utmost efforts to promote dialogue between the followers of the divine religions and raise awareness of the common human values.
Today, I invite you all to work on spreading the culture of peace and upholding the values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, as well as rejecting all forms of violence and extremism, which claimed the lives of many innocent people and took their rights to life away.
