Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Saturday with Robert Maersk Uggla, Chairman of A.P. Moller–Maersk, in Cairo to discuss the company’s ongoing projects in Egypt and future cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority.
During the meeting, they reviewed Egypt’s role as a regional base for Maersk’s operations in container trade and Green fuel production.
The talks were attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie, and Maersk’s regional representative Hani El Nadi.
The president welcomed Maersk’s green fuel initiatives and expansion at East Port Said, describing them as part of Egypt’s broader strategy to become a hub for energy and maritime services.
For his part, Uggla expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support of Maersk’s growth and praised the country’s role in securing a ceasefire in Gaza and hosting the recent peace summit.
He also confirmed his commitment to deeper cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, noting the canal’s infrastructure, efficiency, and value in global supply chains.
Uggla also affirmed that the group is ready to assist Egypt’s reconstruction efforts in Gaza through logistics services based at East Port Said.
Meanwhile, Rabie praised the partnership and said the Suez Canal Authority is looking to launch new joint ventures with Maersk to support the national economy and position Egypt as a leading center for logistics and marine services.
