Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to work on increasing Egyptian investments in the African countries in various fields, especially agriculture, logistics, and related activities such as agricultural industrialisation.
This came during President Sisi’s meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation el-Sayyed el-Quseir and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem, together with the Executive Director of Egypt’s Future Authority for Sustainable Development, Colonel Dr. Bahaa El-Ghannam, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
The meeting addressed the state’s efforts to promote agricultural co-operation with Africa, in linewith the on going effortsto support regional integration mechanisms, enhance Africa’s flexibility in the face of international economic fluctuations, and to benefit from continental tools to maximise the continent’s self-sufficiency and protect food security, Spokesman Fahmy said.
President Sisi was briefed on the challenges facing the Egyptian public and private investments in continent, as well as the state’s vision on means to support those investments.
The president gave directives to increase Egyptian investments in the African countries in various fields, including agriculture, logistics, and related activities such as agricultural industrialisation, the spokesman said.
He also called for giving priority to the Egyptian private sector to lead the implementation of co-operation projects in this context.
He also directed the government to study, and prepare the appropriate mechanisms to help reduce investment risks, and provide support to investors, in a manner that would help achieve the common interests of Egypt and fellow African countries.
