BRUSSELS – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness on promoting parliamentary co-operation with the European side in light of the strategic ties between the two sides, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.
During his meeting with President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola in Brussels, President Sisi said Egypt is keen on boosting parliamentary cooperation with the European side in light of the intertwining of interests and the common challenges facing them, particularly the phenomenon of terrorism and hate speech, in addition to the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic, social and health repercussions.
President Sisi also congratulated Mitsola on assuming her new post.
For her part, the EP president expressed her appreciation of the distinguished ties between the two sides.
She asserted the European Union (EU)’s keenness on promoting partnership with Egypt in the economic and trade domains.
She also expressed the EU’s keenness on backing Egypt’s efforts to achieve comprehensive development, and holding consultations on the most important regional issues within the Euro-Mediterranean framework.
