CAIRO- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Egypt’s utmost keenness on strengthening economic and investment ties with China in the various spheres of mutual interest.

President Sisi also hailed the strong and distinguished relations binding Egypt and China.

This came during his meeting Saturday with the chairman of China Energy Engineering Corporation along with his accompanying delegation.

The meeting was held in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Electricity and Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy.

During the meeting, President Sisi extended his congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping for his re-election for a new term.

Egypt greatly appreciates and respects the Chinese nation and leadership, President Sisi said, pointing out to China’s important status at the international level.

The chairman of the Chinese company, for his part, affirmed that expansion investment plans in Egypt within the upcoming phase fall within the framework of the close ties binding Egypt and China, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.

The Chinese official, meanwhile, referred to the unprecedented development in Egypt’s infrastructure as well as the remarkable progress in the industrial sphere, according to the spokesman.

Such progress has provided new investment opportunities that did not exist before, the spokesman quoted the Chinese official as saying.

The company plans to carry out a mega project to produce green hydrogen in Egypt at total investments valued at between dlrs 5 billion to dlrs 8 billion, added the spokesman.
