President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the central role of mothers in the nation’s strength and continuity.
The president made this remark as he attended the “Egyptian Women and Ideal Mother” ceremony at Al-Ittihadiya Palace on Wednesday.
“Egyptian mothers are the cornerstone of our nation. They are the first school that shapes generations, teaching love through sacrifice and patience, and providing unwavering support and determination,” President Sisi said told the ceremony.
Egyptian women have historically contributed to science, culture, and all walks of life, leaving a lasting legacy for generations. No words can fully capture their value, they are the crown of dignity and the emblem of Egypt’s pride, the president added, according to Presidency Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy.
The president said that women are not only half of society but the guarantor of its cohesion and resilience. He paid tribute to mothers who have endured hardship and faced challenges with courage, turning pain into hope and adversity into motivation to advance the country.
“Egypt will remain strong as long as your hearts beat with generosity and faith, your hands extend in help and support, and your minds spread awareness and understanding,” he said.
President Sisi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting women’s rights, ensuring equality in rights and responsibilities, and fully implementing the 2030 Women Empowerment Strategy. He emphasised enhancing women’s political, economic, and social participation and addressing cultural and societal challenges that may hinder their role.
“Empowering women is a national priority, for Egypt’s renaissance is incomplete without it,” he said.
The event, attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, several cabinet ministers, presidential advisers, and leading female figures from across Egypt.
The event also featured speeches by Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi and Chairperson of the National Council for Women Amal Ammar. They highlighted ongoing efforts to support Egyptian women, including political and economic empowerment programmes, social protection initiatives such as “Takaful and Karama,” and increased financial support for female breadwinners, aligned with Egypt Vision 2030.
The ceremony concluded with interactive discussions between the president and participants on women’s role in society, motherhood, childhood initiatives, arts, and community programmes.
President Sisi underscored the importance of media and drama in promoting respect for women, care of orphans and the elderly, support for people with disabilities, and fostering philanthropic efforts. He also directed attention to nurturing talent in sports and the arts, including plans to launch a “State of Arts and Creativity” programme modeled on the successful “State of Qur’anic Recitation” initiative.
