Port Said has been chosen as Egypt’s capital of culture for 2021.
A special ceremony from March 4 at 7 pm at the Cultural Center in Port Said.
Minister of Culture Enas Abdel Dayem and Port Said Governor Adel El-Ghadhban will be holding a ceremony to commemorate the city’s cultural status on Thursday, 4 March.
Abdel Dayem said the tradition of celebrating Egyptian capitals of culture reflects keenness to achieve cultural justice in all parts of Egypt.
“Culture and the arts are effective guarantees for the creation of human conscience and the building of a personality, whose dialogue is based on reason and balanced thought,” Abdel Dayem said.
Port Said will be the venue for 100 cultural, artistic and intellectual events in the city and in the governorate.
