CAIRO – Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the See of St. Mark Diocese said that he wishes Egypt stability and prosperity with the start of a new presidential term for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
In exclusive statements to MENA Wednesday, the pope said that he also wishes safety for Egypt, the Egyptians and president Sisi, with the start of the president’s new presidential term.
On Tuesday, president Sisi took constitutional oath at the new headquarters of the parliament in the New Administrative Capital.
Pope Tawadros II attended the swearing-in ceremony of the president, that signaled the start of a new presidential term, following his victory in the elections that took place last December.
The Coptic Orthodox Church, led by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, congratulated – in a statement – president Sisi on the start of a new presidential term, during which he will lead Egypt towards greater progress and development and the fulfillment of the hopes of the nation and its citizens.
The statement said the Church prayers to God to grant the president health and strength, surround him with peace and joy and guide his steps towards building Egypt’s future under the new republic.
