CAIRO – Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese voiced pleasure over President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s greeting to Egyptian Copts on Christmas, saying, “President Sisi’s greeting is full of heartfelt feelings and his presence has filled our hearts with extreme joy.”
In an interview with the Egyptian TV Sunday, Pope Tawadros II said Egypt with its historical, civilizational and geographical leverage is the tip of the scale in the region and is dealing with the Palestinian crisis with great wisdom, pointing out to the unfettered flow of assistance to the people of Gaza.
The pontiff underlined the importance of Egypt’s political role in the international arena, referring to the continued consultations taking place between the political leadership and world dignitaries.
He also appealed to the world to achieve peace, voicing hope peace would be realized on the ground, calling for optimistic and positive thinking.
