VIENNA- Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese stressed that Egypt is witnessing comprehensive development in all fields under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
This came during the pope’s meeting with Copts in Austria at the Holy Virgin Of Zeitoun Coptic Orthodox Church.
The pope started a two-week visit here on Thursday during which inaugurates and is scheduled to attend the European Youth Conference.
The pope hailed the wise and deep thinking of the president, referring to Sisi’s keenness on establishing new housing projects as well as development in the health sector.
He noted that Egypt managed to eliminate the Hepatitis Virus C from which 35 percent of Egyptians were suffering through an amazing initiative.
The pope also lauded the achievement realized in the agricultural and land reclamation sector and securing food, referring to the reclamation of 1.5 million feddans in the Western Desert.
The pope extolled the huge cultural achievements, including the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade and the inauguration of the Avenue of Sphinxes, noting that the Grand Egyptian Museum will be opened soon.
He noted that overpopulation is the major obstacle hampering development in Egypt.
