CAIRO – Police Academy Chief Hany Abul Makarem said Monday that the academy’s students firmly insist on achieving peace and security and safeguarding homeland.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of a new batch of the Police Academy’s students, in presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Abul Makarem said that the academy is pursing an effective strategy with specific goals and clear purposes to keep pace with progress made in various domains.
The academy’s strategy is closely linked with the Egyptian State’s digital transformation strategy, he further stressed.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Police Academy chief said that at the international level, the academy has not neglected its role as a scientific training beacon concerned with promoting international partnerships and contributing to training the cadres of friendly countries.
In the field of peacekeeping training, Abul Makarem said that the African Union Commission has approved the Egyptian Center for Training on Peacekeeping Operations as one of its centers of excellence.
The academy is also keen on continuing to implement the joint training program with the students of the Military Academy, he further noted.
Along with Egyptians, graduates included students of 12 African countries, including South Sudan, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Lesotho, and Cameroon, said Assistant Interior Minister and Police Academy Chief Hani Abul Makarem.
This is part of the scholarship provided annually by the Interior Ministry to the African countries, he added during the graduation ceremony of a new batch of the Police Academy’s students on Monday .
He further said that 34 officers from Bahrain, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Kuwait, and Yemen obtained diplomas offered by the College of Graduate Studies.
The Police Research Center also trained this year as many as 932 trainers from 41 African countries, he said, noting that 60 others from the Commonwealth countries also attended training at the center this year.
This came within the framework of a cooperation protocol signed between the center and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), which is affiliated with the Foreign Ministry, he added.
He, meanwhile, extended thanks and gratitude to all the state institutions and the various sectors at the Interior Ministry for their unswerving devotion in performing their duties.
Directing his speech to the graduates, Abul Makarem urged them to perform their duties efficiently and preserve the nation’s security and stability, expressing his best wishes for all of them.
