CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli witnessed on Thursday the inking of a framework agreement between the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (SFE), Norway’s Scatec company for renewable energy and the Norfund.
SFE CEO Ayman Suliman inked the agreement with CEO of Scetec Raymond carlsen and CEO of Norfund Tellef Thorleifsson.
The inking ceremony was attended by Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, Planning Minister Hala Saeed, Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and Norwegian Ambassador in Cairo Hilde Klemetsdal.
This falls within the framework of promoting Egyptian-Norwegian ties and awareness of the importance of sustainable development in combatting climate change, especially as Egypt gears up for the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
Under the agreement, the Egyptian and Norwegian sides will enhance co-operation in developing green energy, green hydrogen facilities and the infrastructure in a number of African countries, including DR Congo, Tanzania, Ghana, South Sudan, Rwanda, Serra Leone, Burundi, Djibouti, and Uganda in the first stage.
