Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli called for expediting and facilitating the customs clearance of shipments upon their arrival and reduce the cost exports and imports process in a bid to boost Egypt’s exports.
The premier, meanwhile, called for expediting the release of imported goods as soon as they arrive at the port.
Madbouli’s remarks came during a meeting held on Tuesday night to follow up on the situation in the National Single Window for Foreign Trade Facilitation (“Nafeza”) system.
The meeting, attended by a host of ministers and high-level officials, tackled steps taken to ban the entry of non-conforming goods into the country, said Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad.
The meeting also discussed the Advance Cargo information (ACI) system, which requires importers to provide shipment data electronically at least 48 hours before cargo shipment’s arrival in Egypt, added the spokesman.
