Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli called for finding solutions to any problems facing ride-sharing companies and adjusting their legal status, through activating a law regulating road transport services using information technology.
Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting on Thursday with Justice Minister Omar Marwan, Communications Minister Amr Talaat and Transport Minister Kamel el-Wazir, as well as other officials, said Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el-Homsany.
The spokesman added that some proposals were presented on tightening control over ride-sharing companies with regard to the technical and technological aspects, together with consolidating coordination with those companies to enhance passengers’ safety measures.
The meeting underlined the necessity of conducting periodic and random tests for drivers to ensure their physical safety and make sure that they test negative for alcohol and drugs, through medical laboratories accredited by relevant bodies.
