Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the accomplishment of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project has been made in a record time thanks to the political will of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to carry out important projects for serving citizens nationwide.

Madbouli, who was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, inspected on Saturday the pilot operation of the first phase of the BRT on the Ring Road.

The premier pointed out that the project will represent a quantum leap in transport sector in Greater Cairo through offering environment-friendly electric buses to serve commuters with the highest quality in the shortest time and at the lowest cost.

Madbouli explained that the pilot operation of the first phase of the BRT project extends from the intersection of the Ring Road with the Alexandria Agricultural Road to the Police Academy Station, noting that all stations have been completed and are ready for operation.

He added that the second phase, which extends from Cairo-Fayyom road to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), is expected to be completed during next July.
