Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli underlined the necessity of harshly dealing with electrical wiring violations.
During a meeting on Thursday, the premier underscored the importance of taking all measures to prevent a repetition of such violations.
Madbouli said it is important for installing pre-paid electricity meters and water-saving components.
The meeting aimed at following up measures to rationalize water consumption as well as plans to improve services in drinking water and drainage sector.
Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater Mamdouh Raslan reviewed efforts exerted by the company to handle illegal water connections nationwide.
Raslan said as many as 140,000 violations of stealing water were detected last year.
This year, 139,000 unauthorized water manipulations were dealt with, according to him.
