Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Monday massive flow of tourists is highly anticipated due to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

Preparations must be made at the various airports and entry points to further facilitate measures related to to entry procedures, especially as regard concerning tourist delegations, added the prime minister.

Madbouli’s remarks came during a meeting held at the government’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) to follow up on efforts to further ease measures for tourist entry procedures, through the implementation of the electronic visa system.

He directed all airports in Egypt should be equipped by 2026 to receive and process tourists through the electronic visa system and emergency visas.

Madbouli underlined the State’s interest in the tourism sector and its keenness on providing more incentives in various areas, in an effort to enhance this vital sector; being considered one of the important pillars on which the national economy relies.

The tourism sector is one of the easiest and fastest sectors for generating foreign currency for the country, he said.

Thus, the government aims to improve the tourist experience in Egypt and ensure smooth and easy entry and exit procedures through airports and various border points, added the premier.

Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el-Homsani said, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in implementing integrated electronic visa system as well as efforts of relevant entities regarding supporting and developing the infrastructure at airports and entry points.

All drives are meant to contribute to accelerating issuing visas electronically, in addition to steps taken in this respect to ease procedures for tourists and ensure swift completion of both entry and exit procedures, added the spokesman.
