Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that the State exerted great efforts to make optimal economic use of Egypt’s mineral wealth, particularly white sand and quartz, in addition to maximizing the added value of industries based on mineral wealth.
This came during a cabinet meeting on Monday, in presence of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarik el Molla, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eldin, and Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir.
During the meeting, the premier said that there is a mandate to work on preparing an integrated study to set a specific path in which all State agencies’ efforts will be integrated to localize the manufacturing of electronic chips (also known as an integrated circuit) and Photovoltaic (PV) panels, which are used to produce electricity directly from sunlight.
These industries are important and accurate, and the government recently announced several incentives for strategic industries, which may contribute to attracting many manufacturers, Madbouli said.
Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said that the meeting reviewed the most prominent results of the studies that are being carried out to boost the utilization of the mineral wealth in Egypt and setting up many projects that depend on the white sands.
The meeting also took up finalizing the Silicon Valley project that will be built in the industrial zone in New Alamein, and the beneficiation process of Quartz Ore in advanced technological industries, the spokesman added.
