CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moutafa Madbouli asserted the government’s keenness on following up the role of the Cabinet’s Ombudsman Office and demonstrating necessary support to respond to citizens’ complaints in a swift way in coordination with ministries and government bodies.
Madbouli’s remarks came while receiving a report on citizens’ complaints registered with the Cabinet’s Ombudsman Office during the month of January.
Director of the office Tareq El Refaei, who prepared the report, stated that some 113,000 complaints and pleas had been received in January.
About 91,000 grievances were referred to bodies concerned, while 18,000 others were shelved, Refaei said.
Refaei made it clear that 67 percent of the complaints were filed against ministries, while 22 percent were against city halls and 11 percent against other parties, he wrote in his report.
Nine ministries received and handled the complaints, Refaei said, citing those of manpower, health, social solidarity, education, housing, interior, supply, communications, electricity and petroleum.
The governorates of Beheira, Cairo, Alexandria, Kafr el Sheikh, Sohag, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, Menya, Qena, Menoufia, Red Sea, Gharbiya and Daqahliya also received the requests and pleas, he added.
