TOKYO – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s support for African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf in advancing the continent’s goals of security, stability and development, while extending congratulations on his assumption of office.
Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting with Youssouf on Wednesday, held on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama city, Japan.
The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan Mohamed Abu Bakar and Egypt’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU Mohamed Gad.
Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed El Homosany said the talks focused on ways to boost cooperation between Egypt and the AU.
They also exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in the continent, the spokesman further noted.
The meeting underscored the depth of Egypt’s partnership with the AU and Cairo’s commitment to supporting African joint institutions in various fields, with the view to fulfilling the high aspirations of African peoples for greater stability and prosperity, he concluded.
