Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reiterated the need for maximizing benefit from current investment opportunities at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), giving directions on doubling efforts to activate the signed memoranda of understanding concerning a number of projects, especially those pertaining to expanding the use of green hydrogen.

The premier’s remarks were made during his meeting with Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Yehia Zaki to follow up on the implementation of investment projects in SCZone.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed funding investments to develop East Port Said region, harbors of El Sokhna, Port Said and El Arish, along with other development projects, including mechanization of customs services, electricity distribution, logistic projects and sanitary drainage treatment plants.

Zaki, for his part, briefed the premier on the developments related to implementing green hydrogen projects and ongoing preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the 27th UN Climate Conference, due to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

Zaki also reviewed a number of MOUs on green hydrogen signed with international companies including Total, EDF Renewables, AMEA Power and Fortescue Future Industries.

He also reviewed the status of granting permits for ship supply activities and luring investments to East Port Said Economic Zone.
