PM opens Cairo ICT2024, inspects various pavilions ‘MCIT targets $9m exports of outsourcing industry in 2026’ 1 - Egyptian Gazette

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Sunday inspected pavilions of the 28th edition of Cairo ICT 2024, the premier technology exhibition and conference for the Middle East and Africa, which is held under the theme “The Next Wave”.

Madbouli opened the expo on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Cairo ICT, also known as the International Technology Fair and Forum for the Middle East and Africa is held at the Egypt Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, November 17-20.

The exhibition is expected to receive more than 114,000 visitors, over than 400 exhibitors, and hundreds of speakers, according to its official website.

The inauguration was attended by several ministers and state senior officials, as well as experts.

Upon arrival, Madbouli was received by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) pavilion was the first stop of the premier, where Minister Talaat briefed him on Egypt’s digital strategy, which aims to simplify and streamline government services for people, create jobs in the digital economy, encourage entrepreneurship and digital innovation along with providing a robust digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the premier got firsthand information about services provided by the Information Technology Institute, which is meant to push forward MCIT’s efforts to support the IT sector by training professionals and providing services to young graduates in Egypt’s digital innovation centers.

According to Minister Talaat, the ministry seeks to increasing exports of outsourcing industry, now estimated at US 3.7 billion, to US 9 million in 2026.

Visiting the Telecom Egypt pavilion,prime ministerMadbouli was offered an interactive presentation on the company’s projects in international connectivity, extended network of undersea cables.

 It also covered its role in supporting content localisation, and strengthening local infrastructure through the delivery of fiber optic cables to homes and supporting national projects, including the development of digital infrastructure in villages included in the national project HayahKarima (A Decent Life).

The Prime Minister also visited the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt pavilion where he was offered a presentation on the achievements of the NTRA’sover the past period in several areas.

At the pavilion of the presidential initiative “New start to build Egyptian people”, the premier said that the state aims through this initiative to intensify the work of government agencies and partner organisations to improve human development indicators and restore the real Egyptian personality.

The forum is organised by the United Media Services (UMS) and Tradefairs International.
