Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has vowed to provide full support to the 14th Session of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) General Conference, Egypt is hosting in December.
Receiving ICESCO’s Director-General Dr Salim AlMalik, and an accompanying delegation in Cairo on Sunday, Madbouli voiced hopes for boosting prospects of co-operation with the organisation, in a way that backs scientific research, creativity and dissemination of knowledge across the Islamic countries.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdul Ghaffar.
Hosting the ICESCO conference is a boost to Egypt’s African and Islamic role at the level of education, science and culture, Madbouli said, adding that the state would offer the event all possible support to make it a success.
For his part, the ICESCO chief voiced pleasure over the ongoing co-operation with Egypt, which he referred to as a pivotal country in the Islamic world and the Middle East region.
The organisation is looking forward to the success of the conference, he said.
In addition, AlMalik reviewed the ICESCO’s efforts for listing the heritage sites of the Islamic world. He noted that they apply the same relevant criteria of the World Heritage List of the
UNESCO.
For his part, Minister Abdul Ghaffar said that invitations were sent to the concerned ministers in 54 countries to attend the 14th Session of ICESCO General Conference.
