Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli lauded the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) decision to select Egypt for hosting the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) in 2024.
During a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the premier highly praised the great efforts exerted by the ministers of foreign affairs, local development and housing for holding the WUF 12 in Egypt.
Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the WUF 12 would be co-organized by the Egyptian government and the UN-Habitat.
The WUF, established in 2001, is the world’s first gathering to discuss urban issues every two years.
It addresses the impact of rapid urbanisation on the social, economic and environmental policies of countries.
The WUF12 is expected to bring together more than 20,000 experts from 150 countries to tackle key topics, including overall resilience and human capital as well as the management of health, education and culture.
