Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli emphasized the government’s commitment to monitoring the progress of the presidential ‘Decent Life’ initiative projects, which he described as the largest comprehensive development project aiming to improve the living standards and services in rural areas nationwide.

The premier’s remarks came at the beginning of his tour on Saturday to Qalyubia governorate to follow up on the implementation progress of the presidential ‘Decent Life’ initiative for developing the countryside, specifically in the villages of Shibin El Qanatir, with a view to improving the quality of life for citizens in the mostly-needed rural areas.

Madbouli was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment Manal Awad, Governor of Qalyubia Ayman Attia and deputy governor Eman Rayan and a number of respective officials in the governorate.

The Prime Minister highlighted the role of the Decent Life projects in achieving a qualitative leap in the level of services provided to citizens in the targeted villages across many development and service sectors.

He stressed strict commitment to quickly finalizing the remaining projects under the initiative’s first phase and to commence the second phase projects, which target the establishment and implementation of more developmental and service projects.

For his part, the governor of Qalyubia explained that the presidential initiative projects in Qalyubia are divided into several key axes with focus on developing infrastructure, improving services, and supporting the neediest families.

These projects aim to develop the countryside and raise the efficiency of services provided to the residents of the targeted villages. The ongoing projects serve the citizens of Shibin El Qanatir district, numbering approximately 600,000 people.

The governor pointed out that Shibin El Qanatir city includes over 35 villages, where 703 projects have been implemented across all developmental sectors with an estimated cost of EGP 7.1 billion, while the implementation rate reached 95.45%.
