Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inaugurated on Thursday “Turathna Exhibition” for handicrafts and traditional products at Al Manara International Conference Center.
Madbouli was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat in addition to a number of other senior officials.
Madbouli listened to a detailed explanation from one of the participants in the event from Halayeb and Shalatin towns who displayed her distinguished products and asserted that the women in her hometown do marvelous work in the field of handicrafts.
Madbouli was given a briefing from CEO of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (MSMEDA) Bassel Rahmi on efforts to organize the exhibition which targets to earn more than EGP 235 million from sales to visitors.
As many as 1,164 exhibitors take part in the event, Rahmi said, adding that the countries participating in the exhibition include India, Latvia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Tunisia and Algeria.
The exhibition aims at opening new markets for craftsmen locally and internationally, achieving financial inclusion, fostering the creation of more sustainable jobs, transferring expertise to coming generations, protecting traditional crafts from extinction, empowering women, stimulating transition to the green economy, boosting exports and promoting trade cooperation, Rahmi said.
A short documentary tackling the goals and accomplishments in addition to several stories of success of the participants was displayed during the event’s opening ceremony.
